Coronavirus: President’s Actions

From Wednesday March 18, 2020 and until further notice:

  1. Cameroon’s land, air and sea borders will be closed: all passenger flights from abroad are suspended, with the exception of cargo flights and ships transporting everyday consumer products as well as essential goods and materials, including stopover times will be limited and supervised; Cameroonians wishing to return to their country will have to get attached to our various diplomatic representations;
  2. The issuance of entry visas to Cameroon at the various airports is suspended;
  3. All public and private training establishments under different levels of education, from kindergarten to higher education, including vocational training centers and grandes écoles will be closed;
  4. Gatherings of more than fifty (50) people are prohibited throughout the national territory;
  5. School and university competitions are postponed, like the FENASSCO games and university games;
  6. The drinking places, restaurants and places of leisure will be systematically closed from 6 p.m., under the control of the administrative authorities;
  7. A system for regulating consumer flows will be set up in markets and shopping centers;
  8. Urban and interurban travel should only take place when absolutely necessary;
  9. Bus, taxi and motorbike drivers are asked to avoid overloading on public transport: law enforcement will take special care;
  10. Private health facilities, hotels and other accommodation, vehicles as well as the specific equipment necessary for the implementation of the COVID-19 pandemic response plan in Cameroon may be requisitioned as necessary, at the diligence of the competent authorities;
  11. Public administrations should favor electronic means of communication and digital tools for meetings likely to gather more than ten (10) people;
  12. The missions abroad of members of the Government and agents of the public and parapublic sector are suspended;
  13. The populations are invited to strictly observe the hygiene measures recommended by the World Health Organization, namely in particular washing their hands regularly with soap, avoiding close contacts such as shaking hands or kissing, covering themselves mouth to sneeze.
